WINTER PARK — It can be expensive to operate a community theater, which is why the Winter Park Playhouse has scheduled an upcoming musical show to raise funds for their ongoing mission.
Singer and entertainer Billy Buchanan is helping the Playhouse do that by performing in the musical theater’s ongoing One-Night-Only Series. The 90-minute concert Billy Buchanan as Ray and Stevie! will be held on Thursday, March 2, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are now on sale and can be purchased for $65.
What is Billy Buchanan as Ray and Stevie?
Billy Buchanan as Ray and Stevie! will be a tribute to the iconic soul legends Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, whose classic hits will get a soulful rendition by the award-winning entertainer and Legends in Concert performer Buchanan.
As the Playhouse noted in a news release, “Billy Buchanan delivers an exceptional evening of entertainment with his recreations of the chart toppers and performances of both Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder as he sings and plays the keyboard along with his 6 piece band. Audiences will be clapping their hands and dancing in their seats to many of the biggest hits we all know and love including ‘Hit The Road Jack,’ ‘America The Beautiful,’ ‘Georgia On My Mind,’ ‘Superstition,’ ‘Isn’t She Lovely,’ ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ and many more!”
Heather Alexander, the executive director of The Winter Park Playhouse, noted that “Billy is absolutely fantastic and realistically brings to life these incredible icons! Get your tickets now before we sell out!”
As Alexander noted, the Playhouse’s quarterly One-Night-Only events are popular with audiences and consistently sell out — which is exactly what the Playhouse is looking for. Net proceeds from this event will support the Playhouse and its year-round musical programming onstage and within the community.
