It happened around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. Polk detectives say two black men knocked on the door of a residence at a mobile home park on Highway 60 in Mulberry, and one of the unfortunate victims who was home at the time was a 70-year-old man.
When one of the residents at the house answered the door, that victim was knocked unconscious by the two suspects, who then entered the house and attacked two others living there, including the 70-year-old man.
He suffered serious injuries, Polk detectives say, and was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Before fleeing the scene, the two suspects stole property and money from the victims.
Following their investigation on Saturday and Sunday, Polk County Sheriff’s Homicide detective concluded that one of the suspects was Walter Morrison, 31, who lives at 520 Garden Drive N. in Lakeland.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Morrison is now wanted for attempted first degree felony murder, armed robbery, home invasion and armed burglary.
The sheriff’s office is also asking the public for help solving this case.
