WINTER PARK — Calling her a “Sensational Singing Seamstress,” the Winter Park Playhouse is welcoming Monica Titus to be the next cabaret performer in their Spotlight Cabaret Series.
Titus, who has been an actress, singer and costume designer at stage productions across Central Florida, will take to the Playhouse’s cabaret stage on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 20-21 to premiere her solo show Behind the Seams!, accompanied by the theatre’s music director, Christopher Leavy, on piano.
“Monica is an incredible talent and we’re excited to welcome her back to the cabaret stage,” said Heather Alexander, the theatre’s executive director. “Her gorgeous voice and fun stories always ensure a wonderful evening out! Don’t miss it!”
What is the Cabaret Show Behind The Seams?
Titus will be crooning songs from past musicals that have been staged at the Playhouse, including the tunes “These Boots Are Made For Walking” from Honky Tonk Laundry, “I Am Woman” from 8-Track Sounds of the 70’s, “A Sunday Kind of Love” from Sh’Boom!, and”For Once In My Life” from The Marvelous Wonderettes, almost like a Playhouse greatest hits collection.
“Join Monica as she fills the room with well loved songs from popular Playhouse productions she has worked with and weaves her artistry into an incredible night of music and story,” the Playhouse notes, adding that this unique cabaret “pays tribute to the many theatrical productions Monica has brought to life on the stage. Through the lens of this uniquely talented performer, audiences will experience the magic of theatre as she shares hilarious and heartwarming behind-the-scenes stories through a delightful mix of song and storytelling.”
The cabaret will also reflect her unique background both on stage and behind the scenes in production. In addition to acting in numerous Playhouse productions, Titus has costume designed 14 of the theatre’s productions.
“Her range both vocally and as a designer set her apart as a unique talent in the area,” the Playhouse notes.
