ORLANDO – There’s now just a few days left until the Mad Cow Theatre begins its summer season, with the Aug. 8 launch of their next production, “The History Boys.”
In the meantime, the theater in downtown Orlando is looking for someone to help them get the word out to the public about their future productions.
The Mad Cow Theatre is actively searching for a marketing intern, someone to work 10 to 15 hours per week, and to be able to assist the theater with various tasks.
It promises to be a great introduction to the world of professional theater, Mad Cow noted.
“An intern can gain exposure to many different aspects of theatre management in a fast-paced, hands-on environment,” Mad Cow noted in a news release. “The marketing intern will assist with contact management, communication projects, and some aspects of production.”
The intern position, Mad Cow noted, will be “project-oriented, and can be tailored to the strengths and talents of the individual selected.”
Although this is an unpaid position, Mad Cow provides all its interns with two tickets to every performance being staged there, as well as the opportunity to take part in all staff events and activities.
Applicants who would like to get college credit through this internship will be given first priority.
Among the specific tasks that the intern will focus on:
• Assisting with direct mail and email accounts;
• Maintaining a contact database with the general public, through data entry and periodic updates;
• Doing graphic design and online media production work;
• Assisting with Mad Cow’s marketing and promotional efforts;
• Researching and archiving the theater’s marketing data;
• and any additional tasks needed by management.
To apply for the marketing intern position, Mad Cow is asking candidates to send them a cover letter, resume or work history, and three professional or academic references.
Mad Cow noted that it is specifically looking for candidates with an interest or background in marketing or the arts, who can demonstrate written and verbal communication skills, have strong attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
“Candidates must also have reliable transportation and be able to lift up to 30 pounds,” the theater noted. “The ideal candidate will possess initiative, have the ability to work independently, function in a deadline-sensitive environment, and have a positive, flexible attitude.”
Also helpful: a working knowledge of email systems, the Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel, while experience with contact management systems, such as emma or Constant Contact, would be a plus.
Applications can be sent to office@madcowtheatre.com or mailed to Mad Cow Theatre, P.O. Box 3109, Orlando, FL 32802.
In the meantime, Mad Cow is opening “The History Boys” on Aug. 8, and the play by Alan Bennett will be performed Thursdays through Sundays until Sept 7 in The Harriett Theatre. The curtain time is 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. for weekend matinees. Tickets start at $28.25.
Preview performances are Wednesday Aug 6 and Thursday, Aug. 7, both days at 7:30 p.m.
For tickets, call the box office at 407-297-8788.
The theater is at 54 W. Church St., on the second floor.
