ORLANDO — With so many options and so little time at the Orlando Fringe Festival, many begin with the tried and true local acts they may be familiar with.  Then, when becoming more adventurous, the choices may become more difficult.

One great method to use in choosing visiting acts is to go with something that seems unique or that has been battle tested on the greater Fringe circuit.  Luckily for Orlando audiences, Easy As Pie from James & Jamesy, a Canadian Comedy Award-winning duo made up of Aaron Malkin, Alastair Knowles, and director David MacMurray Smith, checks both boxes.

What’s Baked Into Easy As Pie?

While a show about two clowns attempting to perform a classic comedy routine (a pie in the face) might seem a little “been there, seen that one time too many,” these aren’t just any clowns, nor is it your typical pie toss caper.  James & Jamesy are 25-time Best-of-Fest winners who have received critical acclaim for past shows such as ‘2 for Tea’ and ‘O Christmas Tea’. Battle tested?  Check!

Now, as for unique, how about the premise of a show that promises to take us on a journey with the clowns “to explore the complexities of trauma, the fallibility of memory, and the role that love plays in the healing process” that begins with the failure of the clowns to execute the pie to the face routine.  Or how about that this act, around since 2011, is choosing to premiere this show at our very own 2023 Orlando Fringe Festival?  Unique?  Check!

So, if physical comedy, emotion, and insight from 2 clowns seemingly having an existential crisis about a failed comedy bit seems like your cup of tea, this very well may be a “can’t miss” for you!
