ORLANDO – A timeshare resale company is going to hold a special ceremony on Thursday, offering a unique gift to a staff member at the American Lung Association: a seven night vacation in Central Florida, at a resort of their choice.
Give Back Timeshare, which provides legal advice and counsel to the timeshare industry, donated a special Father’s Day gift to what the firm calls an “outstanding member of American Lung Association for his unwavering dedication and volunteerism.”
Joe Helme was the winner of the company’s donation, and he’ll be presented with the award at the American Lung Association’s Membership Celebration event on Thursday, June 14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the association’s Central Area Office at 851 Outer Road in Orlando.
“We felt this would be the perfect opportunity to help make Father’s Day special for a deserving father and dedicated member of the community,” said Joel Richwagen, director of operations for Give Back Timeshare.
Based in Orlando, Give Back Timeshare was founded by a licensed Florida attorney who had been providing legal counsel for the travel and hospitality industry, and realized those professionals working in the vacation ownership field could use the assistance of a company that aimed to help their guests avoid becoming victimized by unscrupulous resale firms.
In too many instances, these so-called telemarketing firms don’t actually handle timeshare re-sales, but call someone trying to sell their unit, and claim to have a buyer lined up for their unit — in return for a fee. Once that fee gets paid, that’s often the last time the seller hears from the re-sale firm.
As the firm notes on its Web site, “Our legal expertise, coupled with the relationships we have developed over the past decade in the industry and our financial wherewithal, allow us to under promise and over deliver and provide us the ability to back our 100 percent guarantee with confidence.”
With Father’s Day approaching on Sunday, June 17, Give Back Timeshare decided to do something special to mark that day, and they opted to donate a seven-night vacation to an employee working at the American Lung Association.
The association was then given the opportunity to select a deserving father from its Central Florida chapter’s staff, volunteers, program participants or board members.
The selected winner was Helme.
“The American Lung Association is so thankful to Give Back Timeshare for this generous donation,” says Janelle Middents, the development manager for the American Lung Association’s Central Florida chapter. “This donation allows us to thank a wonderful volunteer in a way we normally would not have the resources for.”
Middents said her staff “unanimously chose Joe Helme of Concorde Career Institute for this honor. Joe, who recently launched the first Respiratory Care Program for Concorde in Orlando, has shown incredible support for our organization from the beginning. Whether asked to speak to our local legislators about tobacco policy, educating students on the importance of lung disease, or gathering support for a fund-raising event, Joe has been one of our biggest advocates.”
Give Back Timeshare noted that the package being awarded to him is a vacation certificate valued at up to $2,000. It provides Helme with a choice of staying at several timeshare properties in Florida, including Sheraton Vistana Resort, Orange Lake Country Club, Vacation Village at Parkway and Summer Bay Resort.
