Hunt is on for robbery suspect brandishing a semi-automatic handgun.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has released this still photo, taken from video surveillance cameras, of the suspect who robbed a Circle K convenience store in Lakeland at gunpoint.

LAKELAND – A ski mask camouflaged his face and entire head. In the heat of July, he wore a black long-sleeved shirt and gloves.
But what was most ominous was the silver, small-caliber semi-automatic handgun that the man pointed at the store clerks and a customer as he walked inside a Circle K store in Lakeland.
Now the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding the man who robbed the store at gunpoint.
The sheriff’s office has released a photo taken from a video surveillance camera in the store, showing the suspect as he robbed the business.
In addition, they’ve put out a description of the man, who was white, and was wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, black gloves, and the ski mask.
He is, the sheriff’s office noted, armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information about this robbery, or who recognizes the suspect, is being urged to call Polk County Sheriff’s Detective Kenjamin Libby at 863-298-6200, Ext. 1237.
Robbery detectives are now investigating the armed robbery that happened on Sunday, July 8, at the Circle K store at 3808 Deeson Road in North Lakeland.
It happened early in the morning, around 4:30.
The store clerks told deputies that a man walked into the store, pulled out the handgun, and pointed the firearm at the employees and a customer.
At that point, the suspect “ordered both clerks behind the counter and ordered the customer to stand nearby where he could see him,” noted Carrie Eleazor, the public information officer for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, in her report on the case.
“The suspect then demanded money from the register, and threatened to shoot one of the clerks if they did not comply,” she said.
After getting money, the suspect ran out of the store and fled on foot.
The sheriff’s office is asking the public to check out the still photo taken during the robbery to see if anyone recognizes the suspect.
