EAGLE LAKE – An employee at a Polk County convenience store was arrested on Thursday, after sheriff’s deputies said he sold a copy of Hustler magazine to an underage buyer.
Deputies arrested Ahmad Alnobani, 25, of Winter Haven on a charge of displaying obscene material harmful to minors and the sale of obscene material to a minor.
Also arrested was 53-year-old Anwar Alnobani of Eagle Lake for display obscene material harmful to minors. The charges, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, stemmed from “a complaint about pornographic magazines being openly displayed for sale in a convenience store within walking distance of two schools,” noted Scott H. The Orange County Corrections Department is asking the public to reach out to their bookshelves and remove any books they don’t want, and donate them to the jail located at 3723 Vision Boulevard in Orlando.
Their hope is that by replenishing the jail’s library, inmates – including those struggling with reading disabilities – will find a way to do something productive during their incarceration. Continue reading
